About

Artist Statement

I create functional porcelain wares with the goal of inciting visual delight. Evoking a sense of serenity in the quiet, intentional mark making that adorns the surface of my vessels. Pots that enhance our daily rituals and aid in meaningful connection. The multiple stripped-down expressions reflect the significance emotion plays in our day to day life, and the importance of finding joy in the smallest moments.

BIOGRAPHY

Lindsey Pankratz was born and raised in Helena, Montana, where she still resides today. Her introduction to clay took place in her Junior year of high school, and she has been pursuing ceramics ever since.

Shortly after taking her first ceramics class, she began working for a local family pottery, where her curiosities for the craft continued to bloom. The business moved after a year of her working with them, and they offered her an internship at their new location immediately upon her graduation. She then completed a 6 month internship with them in Oregon.

In January of 2021 she returned to her home base and promptly began working for the Archie Bray Foundation in the Clay Business, where she still slings clay, glazes and all things ceramic supply.

Throughout her time working in a “ceramics mecca”, she has had the pleasure of working with a number of local ceramic artists including Giselle Hicks, Sunshine Cobb, Kelsie Rudolph, and Raven Halfmoon, performing a wide variety of studio assistance.

In May of 2024, Lindsey was accepted into a competitive educational fellowship program at The Archie Bray Foundation, where she explored form and prioritized career development. In addition to elevating her artistic and professional presence, she instructed a number of  ceramics classes of both extended and succinct class formats, reaching a variety of students with diverse goals and wide ranges of experience.

Her studio practice currently takes place at the Clay Arts Guild of Helena where she has been a glaze tech and board member.
